Our editing service offers two levels of editing for prose (novels and short stories):
This would provide a thorough report on your writing, highlighting overall aspects of the work. Your editor will cover aspects as agreed with you in advance, but typically cover issues of plot, structure, characterisation, composition and theme, as well as continuity.. We will draw your attention to positive aspects of your work as well as those which would benefit from further development.
We provide edits with a view to submission to a publisher, or more focused on development of writing skills, depending on what you are looking to achieve.
Copy editing takes a more technical look at your writing, and usually follows a developmental edit. This is a line-by-line edit highlighting issues of grammar, spelling, typography and sentence structure.
All our editors are professional writers and editors who have completed a variety of projects. We take a friendly and supportive approach to editing. We have counted among our clients several writers with dyslexia, and we do not judge people based on the quality of their spelling and punctuation – we are here to help!
Editing projects usually cost in the region of £15 per thousand words. If you’d like to know more, please email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) with an idea of your project and the kind of help you’d like, and we will be happy to give you a personalised quote for a package to suit you.
